Karnataka Election Results 2023 Highlights: The Congress won the 2023 Karnataka Assembly elections convincingly as it has 135 seats in the 224-member Karnataka assembly. With the election, all eyes are on the chief ministerial candidate, which was set to be announced after the Congress Legislators Party (CLP) meeting in Bengaluru today (May 15, 2023). However, the CLP passed a resolution, allowing Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge to take a final call on the Karnataka chief minister. Congress general secretary KC Venugopal said after the meeting that it was a unanimous decision and former Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah and Karnataka Congress chief DK Shivakumar also agreed o the decision. However, the Congress didn't tell about the date of the announcement for the Karnataka CM.
All 135 newly elected Congress MLAs attended the conference, which started at a private hotel at 7 PM. The nominee for the position of CM was about to be announced by the high command after the meeting.
Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, state Congress president D.K. Shivakumar, senior leaders M.B. Patil, Shamanur Shivashankarappa, Dr. G. Parameshwara, R.V. Deshapande, H.K. Patil are in the race for the CM's post.
