Delhi AQI Update: BS-3 petrol, BS-4 diesel car ban to continue as Supreme Court refuses to relax GRAP-4 restrictions
Current AQI Level in Delhi: Air quality index (AQI) improved slightly from 'very poor' to 'poor' category in some of the areas today.
The Supreme Court (SC) today, December 2 refused to relax Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP)-4 restrictions in the national capital till it noticed a downward trend in the AQI level.
What did the apex court say?
"There is hardly any implementation of stage 4 of GRAP to deal with air pollution in the national capital,” remarked the bench of Justices, questioning the Delhi government on the number of officers deployed by it to implement the restrictions, especially banning trucks from entering the national capital.
SC to examine AQI on December 5
"On Thursday(December 5), we will examine the AQI levels and find out whether there is any downward Trend. Some of the relaxations are suggested by the Commission in the report dated 2nd December 2024. We will hear the parties on those measures and pass appropriate orders," the bench recorded in the order.
