World Wildlife Day 2023: UN World Wildlife Day is celebrated every year on March 3 to spread awareness about the importance of wild fauna and flora. World Wildlife Day is marked on March 3 as this was the day when the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) was signed in 1973. This year marked the 50th anniversary of CITES’ establishment.
World Wildlife Day 2023: Theme
The theme is ‘Partnerships for Wildlife Conservation’. It will allow us to celebrate all conservation efforts, from intergovernmental to local scale.”
Here is the list of national parks and forests to visit this World Wildlife Day.
Ranthambore National Park, Rajasthan
Ranthambore National Park s spread across 1,334 sq. km. The park is well known to spot tigers, leopards, sloth bears, wild boars, hyenas, jackals, foxes and birds like egrets, parakeets, and ibis, among others. Wildlife enthusiasts can take a morning safari between 6.30 am to 10.00 am and the afternoon one is from 2.30 pm to 6:00 pm.
Jim Corbett, Uttarakhand
In Jim Corbett one can easily spot tigers, the park is part of the larger Corbett Tiger reserve. People can also spot serow, goral, Himalayan tahr, golden jackal, spotted deer, elephant, and sambar deer. This park is also known as a bird lover’s paradise.
Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, Kerala
Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the Western Ghats of Kerala, the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary spreads over 925 sq. km. People can spot leopards, deer, elephants and reptiles.
Sunderbans National Park, West Bengal
Sunderbans National Park is the largest mangrove in the country. Sunderbans is home to the Royal Bengal Tiger. One can also spot crocodiles, terrapin turtles, bull sharks, primates, fishing cats, leopards, macaques, and mongooses.
