World NGO Day 2023: World NGO Day is observed on February 27 every year in 89 countries, according to the official websire. Several events and programmes are organised to honour civil actors and NGOs which protect human rights and make efforts to make social changes.

It was in 2010 when World NGO Day was proposed by the Baltic Sea NGO Forum. Two years later, the forum declared that February 27 will be observed as World NGO Day every year.

The first event of World NGO day was hosted by the Ministry for Foreign affairs of Finland on February 27, 2014, in Helsinki, Finland. The international guests were leaders from UNOPS, UNESCO, UNDP, European Union, Nordic Council and international organizations
