Chaitra Navratri 2024: History

During this nine-day celebration, people commemorate Goddess Durga's creation of the universe and all living creatures in it. During Navratri, devotees believe that Maa Durga descends from heaven to meet her followers.
 
Meanwhile, many Hindu believers dedicate this holiday to Lord Ram. They commemorate Ram Navami on the final day of Chaitra Navratri because it is believed that Lord Vishnu's seventh incarnation, the son of King Dasharatha and Queen Kausalya of Ayodhya, was born during this period.
