Suresh Sonthalia, National Secretary of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), also offered his condolences, remembering Tata as a "true nationalist and philanthropist." Sonthalia highlighted Tata's generous contributions during times of national crisis, including his significant support during the COVID-19 pandemic. He also recalled Tata's decision to reject an order for army tanks from a neighboring country following the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.
Reflecting on Tata's legacy, Sonthalia, a former president of the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), emphasized the industrialist's pivotal role in the development of India and Jamshedpur, the steel city. "We are saddened by the loss of a great visionary, whose contributions to the nation's progress are immense," he said.
Sonthalia also shared a personal memory, recalling his long-standing desire to host Tata at an SCCI event. "I had the honor of delivering the welcome address when he finally attended on March 3, 2012, during the presidency of R.K. Agarwal," he added.
Ratan Tata's passing marks the end of an era, leaving behind a legacy of leadership and service that will continue to inspire generations to come.
