In the message, the scammer portraying as Dhoni says, "Hi I'am Dhoni, I'am messaging you from a private account. I am in Ranchi outskirts and I have forgotten wallet. Can you PhonePe me Rs 600, so I can return home by bus, will send back once I get home.
Scammers can go to any extent to cheat people. Sometimes they may look creative, and other times they may be funny. Now a new matter has come to light where scammers are portraying themselves as legendary India cricket captain MS Dhoni. The message also alerted Department of Telecommunications, which tweeted on X, asking people to beware of such a scammer.
What is even more funny that, in order to look genuine, the scammer is portraying Dhoni as someone in urgent need of money. He asks for Rs 600 help, promises to give it back once he reaches home, and, as proof, posts his picture to make his message appear genuine.
