Sant Sevalal Jayanti 2023: Born on February 15, 1739, Kranti Singh Sant Sevalal Maharaj was a great saint, socio-religious reformer and community leader. He was also Satguru to the Shoorveer Ladvayya Banjara Samaj. He was referred to as 'Sant Sevalal Maharaj' or 'Sadguru Sevalal Maharaj' by his followers.

Sant Sevalal Maharaj is believed to have been born in Sevagad, Gollaladoddi near Gutti of Anantapur in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh on February 15, 1739. 

Sevabhaya lived with his parents, up to the age of 12. He bathed in KALO KUNDO (transparent clean water of natural spring water pond), Worshiped in Chanakeshva (Shiva) Temple on the top of Chandrayana Gutta (Hill), near Ramji Nayak Tanda grazed his cattles in Zoomri/Zhanda Jhol (forest of Palms). All these relics and monuments exist even today.

He died at Ruhigarh (Yavatmal District) and was buried at Poharagarh in Washim district, now in the state of Maharashtra. His samadhi still stands there, adjacent to a temple dedicated to goddess Jagadamba.

Although he was opposed to personality cults and rituals, it is a popular destination for Banjaras at Hindu festivals such as Diwali. Similar adjacent temples dedicated to Sevalal and to Jagdamba exist elsewhere and also attract worshippers in significant numbers.

Sant Sevalal teachings 

Sevalal was against blind beliefs and animal sacrifices. He discouraged baptism and proselytisation into other religions. He preached to respect parents and women and to lead true life protecting nature and wildlife.

Sevalal Maharaj took up the task of reforming the society. He traveled India for the purpose of business, to know the views of saints around India and review their work.
