Prime Minister Narendra Modi was learned to have spoken to US President-elect Donald Trump on a telephone line on Wednesday after the former American president made a stunning comeback for a second inconsecutive term in the White House. The Indian Prime Minister congratulated the US President-elect after he emerged victorious by securing 277 electoral votes against his opponent, Democrat Kamala Harris, who bagged 224, sources told Zee Business.

Earlier in the day, the former US President said that people had told him that God spared his life for a reason, which was "to save our country and restore America to greatness". 

"Now we’re going to fulfill that mission together,” he told Republican supporters while trends showed him leading against Harris. 

“The task before us will not be easy, but I will bring every ounce of energy, spirit, and fight that I have in my soul to the job that you’ve entrusted to me,” Trump added.
