Who is Neal Mohan: Indian-American Neal Mohan is the new CEO of popular video sharing platform YouTube. A long-time Google and YouTube executive, Neal replaces Susan Wojcicki who helmed the position since 2014.

A Stanford graduate in electric engineering, Neal joins an elite list of Indian-origin CEOs at the helm of US-based global giants, including, Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella. Indra Nooyi had served as PepsiCo's CEO for 12 years before stepping down in 2018.

Neal had joined Google in 2008 and later became the Chief Product Officer of YouTube in 2015. He has also worked with Microsoft and sits on the board of Stitch Fix and 23andMe, a genomics and biotechnology company.

He previously spent almost six years at DoubleClick, a company Google acquired in 2007, and later served nearly eight years as senior vice president of display and video advertising at Google.

Susan Wojcicki while announcing her resignation said, "When I joined YouTube nine years ago, one of my first priorities was bringing in an incredible leadership team. Neal Mohan was one of those leaders, and he'll be the SVP and new head of YouTube."

"He has set up a top-notch product and UX team, played pivotal roles in the launch of some of our biggest products, including YouTube TV, YouTube Music and Premium and Shorts, and has led our Trust and Safety team, ensuring that YouTube lives up to its responsibility as a global platform," she said.

Mentioning that he has a wonderful sense for the product, business, creator and user communities and employees she further said that Mohan will be a terrific leader for YouTube.

“Thank you, [Susan Wojcicki]. It’s been amazing to work with you over the years. You’ve built YouTube into an extraordinary home for creators and viewers. I’m excited to continue this awesome and important mission. Looking forward to what lies ahead…,” Neal tweeted following the announcement.
