Namo Shetkari MahaSanman Nidhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to release the second and third instalments of the Maharashtra government’s Namo Shetkari MahaSanman Nidhi (NSMN) scheme on Wednesday, February 28. The instalments amount to Rs about Rs 3,800 crore, according to an official release.

The Namo Shetkari MahaSanman Nidhi scheme provides an additional Rs 6,000 per year to beneficiaries in Maharashtra, under the Centre’s Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme.

The two schemes, the state’s Namo Shetkari MahaSanman Nidhi scheme and the central government’s Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, together provide minimum income support of Rs 12,000 crore a year to farming families in Maharashtra.

The disbursal of the second and third instalments of the Namo Shetkari MahaSanman Nidhi scheme is estimated to benefit about 88 lakh farmers in the state, according to an official statement.

Namo Shetkari MahaSanman Nidhi: What is it?

Under the scheme, the Maharashtra state government transfers Rs 6,000 directly into the accounts of the beneficiaries.

This amount is in addition to the Rs 6,000 paid under the central scheme.

Namo Shetkari MahaSanman Nidhi: Eligibility criteria 

Farmers residing in Maharashtra are eligible for the Namo Shetkari Maha Samman Nidhi scheme.

The applicant must have cultivable agricultural land in their name, must be already registered under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, and hold a valid bank account to be able to receive the benefits under the Namo Shetkari MahaSanman Nidhi scheme.
