Global Computer Outage Update: Mumbai Airport confirms SpiceJet, Akasa, IndiGo, AirAsia, Air India Express check-in & reservation systems fully operational now

Global Computer Outage Update: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSIA) - also known as Mumbai International Airport - confimed on Saturday that check-in and reservation systems of airlines including IndiGo, SpiceJet and Air India Express are fully operational after a widespread global computer outage disrupted flight operations. 

Mumbai International Airport said that the following airlines had confirmed that their check-in and reservation systems were operational, as of July 20, 2024:  

• SpiceJet: Check-in and reservation systems online since 2200 hours on July 19, 2024
• Akasa: Check-in and reservation systems online since 23:55 hours on July 19, 2024
• Indigo: Check-in and reservation systems online since 0055 hours on July 20, 2024
• AirAsia: Check-in and reservation systems online since 2240 hours on July 19, 2024
• Air India Express: Check-in and reservation systems online since 1945 hours on July 19, 2024

"All airline check-in and reservation systems are now fully operational," the airport authorities said. 

On Friday, several airlines in the country experienced technical and operational disruptions, leading to chaos at airports as passenger check-ins were delayed as the carriers retorted to issuing manual boarding passes.

Union Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu assured the passengers that his ministry and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) were actively managing the situation using manual methods to ensure minimal disruption. "We have instructed all airlines and airport authorities to keep passengers informed about their flight status and provide necessary assistance," Naidu said.

IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said his ministry was in touch with Microsoft and added that NIC network was not affected.

In a post on microblogging site X (formerly TwitteR), Vaishnaw said the reason for this outage has been identified and updates have been released to resolve the issue.

Meanwhile, stock exchanges NSE and BSE said on Friday that they were not impacted due to the global outage of Microsoft systems.
