Kumbh Sankranti will be celebrated on February 13 2023. The shubh muhurat on Kumbh Sankranti will start from 7 am and will last till 9.58 am. The total duration of Punya Kaal Muhurta will be around 2 hours 57 minutes.

According to Hindu beliefs, the change of Sun's zodiac sign is called Sankranti. On this day Sun enters the Aquarius after coming out of Capricorn. It is considered auspicious to bathe in any river of the Ganga on this day, but the world famous Kumbh Mela is organized at Sangam during Kumbh Sankranti itself. Bathing, charity and Sun worship have special significance on this day.
On this day, getting up in the Brahma Muhurta, worshiping the Sun God, offering him prayers and reciting the Aditya Hridaya Srotta, brings immense blessings of the Sun God along with respect and high status in life. It has been said that if Bhagwan Bhaskar is pleased then there is sure to be success in every field.
Donating on the day of Kumbh Sankranti has special significance. Like Makar Sankranti, there is a very old tradition of donating on the day of Kumbh Sankranti. It is considered that Sun God, Lord Vishnu and Shani Dev shower blessings if devotees donate things made of black sesame on Kumbh Sankranti.
On the day of Sankranti, the person who bathes and offers black sesame, jaggery, red sandalwood in water to Sun God, such a person attains Brahma Lok.

On the occasion of Kumbha Sankranti, the devotees take a dip in the holy river and pray for good fortune and prosperity while seeking the Sun God’s blessings. It is believed that the holy bath cleanses birth sins and helps devotees attain salvation. On Kumbha Sankranti day, cows are also presented with gifts, and Dan-Punya, or charitable activities, are performed. Devotees give Brahmin Pandits and the poor food, clothing, and other necessities.
