Kamada Ekadashi April 2023: Vrat Katha
According to the story of Kamda Ekadashi fasting, there was a king in Ratnapur city named Pundarik. It is said that apsaras and gandharvas lived in his kingdom. Among them, there was a gandharva named Lalit and the celestial nymph Lalita. They loved each other very much.
One day a dance ceremony was organised in the king's court where Lalit was performing. While singing, gandharva Lalit got lost in the memory of his wife and this affected his singing. When this news reached King Pundrik, he cursed Lalit that he would become a demon and eat humans and raw meat. Lalita, the wife of Lalit, became very sad after her husband became a demon. She started looking for ways to get rid of this curse.
One day she met Rishi Shringi and explained the whole situation. Rishi Shringi suggested that she should fast on the Ekadashi date of Chaitra Shukla Paksha to get her husband freed from the curse. Lalita did the same and observed the fast of Kamada Ekadashi. As a result, her husband returned to the original form.
