Indian Beaches Blue Flag Certification: Blue flag mission promotes sustainability in the tourism sector, through environmental education, environmental protection and other sustainable development practices.
Indian Beaches Blue flag certification: Indian beaches in Lakshadweep -- Minicoy, Thundi Beach and Kadmat Beach have received the International eco-label ‘Blue Flag’ recently. The Blue Flag certification is accorded by Foundation for Environment Education (FEE). FEE is a non-profit organisation promoting sustainable development through environmental education. It is based at Copenhagen, Denmark.
Beaches Blue Flag Certification Criteria
To qualify for the Beaches Blue flag certification, a series of stringent environmental, educational, safety-related and access-related criteria are supposed to be met. The beaches shall comply with all the 33 criteria which are mandated by the Foundation for Environment Education.
International eco-label 'Blue Flag' is an eco-label given to the cleanest beaches in the world.

Indian Beaches Blue Flag Certification: Full list of Indian beaches
The new entry of Indian beaches takes the number of beaches certified under the Blue Flag certification to 12.
The other Indian beaches are Shivrajpur-Gujarat, Ghoghla-Diu, Kasarkod and Padubidri-Karnataka, Kappad-Kerala, Rushikonda- Andhra Pradesh, Golden-Odisha, Radhanagar- Andaman and Nicobar, Kovalam in Tamil Nadu and Eden in Puducherry beaches.
Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Shri Bhupender Yadav expressed happiness and congratulated everyone. He stated that it is a part of India’s relentless journey towards building a sustainable environment led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Both the beaches -- Minicoy, Thundi Beach and Kadmat Beach have designated staff for beach cleanliness and maintenance and for the safety and security of swimmers.
Thundi Beach is a pristine and picturesque beach in the Lakshadweep archipelago where white sand is lined by turquoise blue water whereas Kadmat Beach is popular with cruise tourists who visit the island for water sports. It is famous for its pearl white sand, blue lagoon waters and moderate climate.
