The HBO series is set almost 200 years before the death of The Mad King (Aerys Targaryen) and the birth of Daenerys - which was played by Emilia Clarke in Game of Thrones.
The Fire&Blood, written by George Martin is set as the background of the series which provides a historical context of the Targaryen dynasty.
The series opens with Viserys Targaryen, played by Paddy Considine, ruler of the seven kingdoms, who struggles to bear a male heir.
Then as it goes forwards, Viserys loses his wife and his newborn son to death, and he has to decide the matter of succession.
Two contenders for the spot are shown - the brother of Viserys, Daemon Targaryen - Matt Smith and his daughter, Rhaenyra Targaryen, who is played by Molly Alcock.
This leads to the internal conflict which leads to a series of events that impact the throne and the realm.
The makers of this series have already hinted towards a lot of erotica, bloodshed and gripping politics.
