The story behind Holika Dahan is linked to Lord Vidhu. There was a demon king named Hiranyakashipu, who had a son named Prahlad. Prahlad was a devotee of Lord Vishnu, which angered Hiranyakashipu, who considered himself to be a god. Hiranyakashipu wanted to kill his son Prahlad because of his devotion to Lord Vishnu, but he failed in all his attempts.

Finally, Hiranyakashipu's sister, Holika, offered to help him. She had a boon that made her immune to fire, and she planned to enter a fire with Prahlad and burn him alive. However, due to Lord Vishnu's grace, Prahlad survived, and Holika was burnt to ashes. This event is celebrated as Holika Dahan.

Holika Dahan is performed on the night before Holi. People gather around the bonfire, sing and dance around it, and offer prayers. The bonfire symbolizes the victory of good over evil, and the burning of Holika represents the destruction of evil. After the fire has died down, people take the ashes and apply them to their foreheads, which is believed to bring good luck and prosperity.
