Holi 2023 Dry day: Liquor shops to remain closed on March 8 in Delhi and other cities

Holi 2023 dry day: Holi is a celebration of liveliness, joy and, of course, familial ties and close bonds. India, a diverse land of cultures and traditions, celebrates Holi with cheer across the nation. On Holi, which will be celebrated on March 8 across India, all liquor shops will be closed as it will be observed as a dry day.

Dry days are observed in India on many occasions and festivals. On dry days, all liquor shops are closed. On Holi as well, all the liquor shops in Delhi and other cities will be closed.

The step is said to be taken on account of maintaining harmony as there are many cases of hooliganism and fighting that come fore after alcohol consumption. Here is a list of dry days when no alcohol will be permitted to be bought or sold.

Some states have state-specific holidays in which alcohol sale is prohibited in retail shops, bars, and hotels, other than January 26, August 15, and October 2.
