Himachal Pradesh Election 2022: Himachal Pradesh is witnessing a neck-to-neck fight between Congress and BJP as HP Assembly Election results are unraveling on Thursday. In the first hour of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 counting, Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took lead on a similar number of seats and the competition has remained ever since then.
At 11:30 AM, Congress was leading in 37 seats and BJP was leading in 28 seats. As per the latest trends, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is yet to open its account.

The exit polls had predicted a close fight in Himachal Pradesh where most pollsters gave an edge to the ruling party over the Congress. Elections for the Himachal Pradesh assembly took place on November 12, 2022, to elect 68 members of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly. There were 412 contesting candidates, majorly from BJP, Congress, and others like CPIM, AAP, BSP.
Exit polls had predicted BJP coming to power in Himachal Pradesh. If the predictions are correct and the BJP returns to power, the saffron party will maintain the three-decade-old tradition of voting out the incumbent government in the state.
In the 2017 assembly elections, the BJP won a majority of 44; the Congress got 21, with one seat going to CPI-M, and two to Independents. The BJP effected a generational change in leadership as its presumptive chief minister, Prem Kumar Dhumal, lost his seat, and Jairam Thakur got the chair.
