In a letter dated September 7, the district magistrate, Gurgaon, wrote, "Whereas in wake of G-20 Summit in Delhi, traffic will be regulated on NH-48 on 8th September 2023, which might result into occasional traffic congestion on the roads of the Gurugram city. Accordingly, there is a need to exercise caution and minimise travel so that traffic congestion can be avoided."

The letter further said, "In consideration of the aforementioned facts, all corporate offices and private institutions in the district are advised to guide their employees to Work from Home tomorrow i.e. on 8th September 2023."

Though most of the events of the G-20 summit will be held in New Delhi, Gurgaon will also have its share in the meet. The delegation from Saudi Arabia will stay at Gurgaon's Hotel Leela.

Apart from that, participating delegates will pass through the Delhi-Gurgaon road while travelling to and from Indira Gandhi International Airport.

The mandate came two days ahead of the start of the two-day G-20 Summit, which is set to start in New Delhi on September 9.

All schools and colleges in the Capital will also remain closed from September 8–10, Delhi's education minister Atishi said on Wednesday.
