Trump injured in assassination attempt; alleged gunman shot dead; PM Modi condemns attack
After former US President Donald Trump was attacked by a shooter during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) said that it was an assassination attempt against him. Secret Service says that its agents had shot dead the alleged gunman. It also said that at least one attendee in the rally was shot dead while two were injured.
While speaking at a political rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday (July 13, 2024), former US President Donald Trump was attacked by a shooter. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) said that the shooting was an assassination attempt against Trump.
Secret Service said that its agents had shot dead the alleged gunman.
The bullet pierced Trump's ear and he was injured. He was covered by the security and was taken off the stage. Trump is said to be safe now.

Kevin Rojek, who is the special agent in charge of the FBI’s Pittsburgh field office, said in a press briefing in Butler after the incident: “This evening, we had what we’re calling an assassination attempt against our former President Donald Trump. It’s still an active crime scene.”
The Secret Service also said that at least one attendee in the rally was shot dead while two were injured.

After the attack, Trump gave his first account of being shot at a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, saying "I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear.
"I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin," Trump said on his Truth Social site.

Pennsylvania governor Josh Shapiro said Trump had left the Butler area after the shooting on Saturday.
