Ramadan 2023: Eid-ul-Fitr will be observed in India from April 21 to April 23, 2023. The exact date will depend on the moon's appearance. Eid ul-Fitr marks the end of the Muslim holy month of fasting, Ramadan.
This day is celebrated with prayer offerings, charity, and feasting. Eid-ul-Fitr, also known as 'Meethi Eid, is celebrated during the first three days of Shawwāl, the 10th month of the Islamic calendar (though the Muslim use of a lunar calendar means that it may fall in any season of the year).
On this auspicious occasion, millions of Muslim families around the world invite friends and family to their homes and have feasts with some of the most delicious cuisines. If you’re seeking a variety of dishes to prepare this Eid, here are some suggestions:
1. Biryani
Biryani is without a doubt, the most popular Eid-Ul-Fitr dish. Most people enjoy the flavourful chicken biryani with a bowl of curd and salan. With just one taste, there is an explosion of aroma and flavour.
2. Sheer Khurma
Sheer khurma is also a popular dessert. It has vermicelli (sewai) as a main ingredient and is cooked in a milk base (often overnight). The dessert is similar to a sweet noodle soup; some people serve it cold, while others serve it hot.
3. Kaleji Curry
Chicken kaleji, also known as chicken liver, is a dish often served on the occasion of Eid-Ul-Fitr. A spicy masala gravy with a unique flavour from the liver in a chicken liver curry recipe. Chicken liver pieces are soft and juicy, and they go well with homemade chapattis or naan bread.
4. Kebab with Galouti
Galouti kebabs are non-vegetarian kebabs that were invented in the city of Nawabs, Lucknow by the Khansamas of Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula for his love for different kebabs. Galouti literally translates to 'soft' and that makes this Indian kebab a mouth-melting recipe from Awadhi cuisine.
