As India loses former PM Dr Manmohan Singh, X flooded with condolence messages
There was a rush of condolence messages from top government officials and politicians as India lost former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh at AIIMS in the national capital.
As India lost its former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on Thursday, December 26, social media platforms were flooded with condolence messages from top government officials and politicians. Dr Singh breathed his last at the All India Institute Of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the national capital. He was 92 years old and had been battling age-related conditions for the past few months.
Dr Singh is survived by his wife, Gurcharan Kaur Singh, and three daughters.
Netizens expressed grief over the passing of Dr Singh, widely recognised as the chief architect of India's economic reforms in 1991.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on microblogging site X (formerly Twitter): "India mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished leaders, Dr Manmohan Singh Ji. Rising from humble origins, he rose to become a respected economist. He served in various government positions as well, including as Finance Minister, leaving a strong imprint on our economic policy over the years."
PM Modi also wrote: "His (Dr Singh's) interventions in Parliament were also insightful. As our Prime Minister, he made extensive efforts to improve people’s lives."

Bhartiya Janata Party National President JP Nadda described the passing of Dr Singh as "an immense loss for the nation".
"A visionary statesman and a stalwart of Indian politics, throughout his remarkable career in public service, he (Dr Singh) consistently voiced for the welfare of the downtrodden. His leadership earned admiration and respect across party lines. Shri Manmohan Singh ji’s legacy will continue to inspire generations in their pursuit of nation-building. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and admirers. Om Shanti," wrote Nadda.
Home Minister Amit Shah
Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed grief over the passing of former PM Dr Manmohan Singh.
From serving as the RBI Governor to Finance Minister and then Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh played an important role in the governance of the country, Shah tweeted.
He also expressed his condolences to Dr Singh's family and supporters.
"May Waheguru ji grant peace to his soul and give strength to his family members to bear this loss," Shah added.

Expressing grief over the news, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said Dr Manmohan Singh "played a key role in rebuilding India’s economy during difficult times. He was widely respected for his service and intellect. His contribution to India’s progress will always be remembered. My heartfelt condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti!"
