The film business has been comparatively better than expected. Film trade analyst Sumit Kadel had predicted the opening box office collection for Dobaaraa around Rs 20-35 lakh only, however, the movie made Rs 72 lak on the opening day.
An official remake of the 2018 Spanish film Mirage, Dobaaraa released on August 19. It is Taapsee’s second theatrical release within a month after Mithali Raj’s biopic Shabaash Mithu, which released in July.
Anurag Kashyap has returned 'dobara' (once again) with 'Dobaaraa', two years after his last streaming movie 'Choked' on Netflix. The film not just marks his reunion with his 'Manmarziyaan' actress Taapsee Pannu, but also marks his return to the genre of thrillers, his last outing being the Vicky Kaushal and Nawazuddin Siddiqui-starrer 'Raman Raghav 2.0'.
'Dobaaraa' is jointly produced by Ektaa Kapoor's Cult Movies, a new division under Balaji Telefilms, and Sunir Kheterpal and Gaurav Bose's banner Athena.
Earlier, Nikhil Siddhartha-starrer Karthikeya 2 was seen working magics on the box office amid boycott calls for Bollywood movies. A sequel to the critically acclaimed movie 'Karthikeya', the second installment of the movie even beat the likes of Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha and Akshay Kumar's Raksha Bandhan in terms of collection on Friday.
On Saturday, Nikhil Siddhartha mythological drama jumped manifolds from its opening day collection of mere Rs 7 lakh in Hindi belt. The Hindi version of the movie has made Rs 11.25 crore until Saturday.
