Dhanteras 2022: The five-day-long Diwali festival is about to begin. Dhanteras which is also known as Dhantrayodashi is the first day of these five days long festivities. This year, it (Dhanteras) will be celebrated on Saturday, October 22.

The day of Dhanteras is also observed as Dhanwantari Triodasi or Dhanvantri Jayanti, the birth anniversary of the God of Ayurveda. Yamadeep is another ritual on the same Trayodashi Tithi when the lamp for the God of death is lit outside the home to ward off any untimely death of any family members.

Dhanteras 2022: History and Significance
It is to be believed that on the day of Dhantrayodashi, Goddess Lakshmi came out of the ocean during the churning of the Milky Sea. Hence, Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped on the day of Trayodashi. Along with Devi Laxmi, Lord Kuber - the God of wealth, is also worshipped on this auspicious day. However, Lakshmi Puja on Amavasya after two days of Dhantrayodashi is considered more significant.

Dhanteras 2022: Best time for Laxmi Pujan
Lakshmi Puja on Dhanteras should be done during Pradosh Kaal which starts after sunset and approximately lasts for 2 hours and 24 minutes. The best time for Lakshmi Puja is during Pradosh Kaal when Sthir Lagna prevails. It is said that if Dhanteras Puja is performed during Sthir (stable) Lagna, Lakshmiji will stay in your home.
