DMRC launches bike taxi service from 12 metro stations to enhance last-mile connectivity
The service will operate between 8 am and 9 pm, with 50 SHERYDS and 150 RYDR bikes available within a 3-5 km radius from these stations. Over the next month, the service will expand to more than 100 stations, eventually covering all 250 metro stations, with a fleet of around 1,000 SHERYDS and 1,000 RYDR bikes.
Delhi Metro passengers can now seamlessly book bike taxi rides via the DMRC Momentum app, offering a convenient one-stop solution for commuters. This new service, launched on Monday, includes two options: SHERYDS, a women-only service, and RYDR, which is available to all commuters, according to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
Initially available at 12 metro stations, the service includes stations such as Dwarka Sec-21, Dwarka Sec-10, Dwarka Sec-14, Dwarka Mor, Janakpuri West, Uttam Nagar East, Rajouri Garden, Subhash Nagar, Kirti Nagar, Karol Bagh, Millennium City Centre Gurugram, and Palam. This new feature is introduced in collaboration with First And Last Mile Connectivity India Pvt. Ltd., and aims to improve last-mile connectivity.

Anuj Dayal, Principal Executive Director of DMRC, explained that SHERYDS is a special initiative designed to cater to the needs of female commuters. It also empowers women by providing opportunities to become drivers, thereby fostering financial independence and dignity. Additionally, the electric bikes used for the service aim to reduce the carbon footprint.
The SHERYDS fleet will consist of trained and verified female riders, and it features a real-time ride monitoring system. The fare structure for SHERYDS starts at Rs 10, with an additional Rs 10 per km for the first two kilometers, and Rs 8 per km thereafter.
On the other hand, the RYDR service focuses on optimizing travel routes to ensure shorter, more efficient journeys. By operating within a specified radius, RYDR guarantees safer and quicker rides for passengers, avoiding long detours typically seen in traditional models.
This new bike taxi service is a significant step forward in improving the last-mile connectivity for metro passengers and promoting eco-friendly transport options.
