Delhi Airport Update: Authorities issue advisory for non-CAT III compliant flights due to dense fog

Delhi airport authorities issued a travel advisory today, January 3 due to the dense fog conditions in the city. In the advisory, the authorities state that planes that were not CAT III compliant would be disrupted.

In a social media post on X, the authority wrote, "While landing and take-offs continue at Delhi airport, flights that are not CAT III compliant may get affected."

Further, the airport authorities requested passengers to contact concerned airlines for their updated flight information.

"Passengers are requested to contact the airline concerned for updated flight information," the post further read.

Inconveniences caused to passengers were regretted.

"Any inconvenience caused is deeply regretted," the post further read.

The visibility at Delhi's IGI Airport was zero meters due to extremely severe fog. It stated that all runways are in compliance with CAT-III standards, which is a navigation system that assists planes in landing in low visibility conditions.

A thick blanket of fog engulfed the national capital on Friday morning, as visibility dropped to zero in some areas, with the weather department predicting cloudy skies for the day.

The minimum temperature in Delhi was recorded to be 7 degrees Celsius, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
