Chaitra Navratri 2023: The auspicious nine-day festival of Chaitra Navratri will commence from next week. This festival begins on the first day of the Hindu lunisolar calendar and falls in March/April.

In India, four types of Navratris are celebrated throughout the year. These are Shardiya Navratri, Chaitra Navratri, Magha Gupt Navratri and Ashadha Gupt Navratri.

Navratri of Ashwin month and Chaitra month are considered significant. Most of the customs and rituals observed during Shardiya Navratri are also observed during Chaitra Navratri.

Chaitra Navratri 2023: Date and Time

According to Drik Panchang, Pratipada Tithi of the Chaitra month will begin on March 21 at 10:52 PM and end on the next day i.e, March 22 at 08:20 PM. The Meena Lagna will begin on March 22 at 06:232 AM and end on the same day at 07:32 AM PM. While the nine-day festival of Chaitra Navratri will end on March 30.

Day 1: Maa Shailputri (March 22)
Day 2: Maa Brahmcharini (March 23)
Day 3: Maa Chandraghanta (March 24)
Day 4: Maa Kushmanda (March 25)
Day 5: Maa Skandamata (March 26)
Day 6: Maa Katyani (March 27)
Day 7: Maa Kalaratri (March 28)
Day 8: Maa Mahagauri (March 29)
Day 9: Maa Siddhidatri (March 30)

Chaitra Navratri 2023: Ghatasthapana Tithi and Muhurat

Ghatasthapana is one of the significant rituals during Navratri. It marks the beginning of nine days festival. It is also known as Kalash Sthapana or Kalashsthapana. This year the Ghatasthapana will be on March 22. 

According to Drik Panchang, Pratipada Tithi will begin on March 21 at 10:52 PM and end on March 22 at 08:20 PM.
Kalash is considered a symbol of happiness, prosperity, and auspiciousness. It is believed that Lord Vishnu resides in the mouth of the Kalash, Rudra in the neck, Brahma in the root, and Goddess Shakti in the middle.
