Amarnath Yatra 2024: Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) announced on April 14 that the annual pilgrimage to the 3,880-metre-high Amarnath shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas will begin on June 29 and conclude on August 19, 2024.

The registration for the 52-day-long yatra started today, April 15, from 446 branches of the Punjab National Bank, the Jammu and Kashmir Bank, and the YES Bank.

Here is a step-by-step guide for the registration process.

  • The registration for the Amarnath Yatra and issue of the Yatra Permit (YP) are done on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • One Yatra permit is valid for one person only.
  • Pilgrims are required to complete the registration process through designated bank branches using biometric eKYC authentication in real time.
  • Interested travellers must register using a valid compulsory healthcertificate (CHC) provided by an authorised doctor, an Aadhar Card, or a government-issued valid identity card.
  • Registered travellers must then get a radio frequency identification (RFID) card from authorised centres in the Jammu and Kashmir divisions before beginning their journey. It is important to remember that no traveller will be permitted to enter through the entrance control gate at Domel/Chandanwadi without a valid RFID card.
  • Each branch has been assigned a certain number of licenses to issue for each day and route. The bank guarantees that the number of licences granted does not exceed the daily and route limits.
  • Each route allows 7500 pilgrims to attend the Yatra. A total of 15,000 pilgrims are allowed every day, including walking and helicopters.
  • The registration at the bank can be done between 3 PM to 6 PM normally. Although, you should confirm the timings.
  • Fill in the prescribed application form and submit all the required documents like CHC and four passport-size photographs as discussed above.
  • After all the verification, you will get a Yatra permit.
  • Amarnath Yatra Registration Fee: The registration fee for Yatra 2024 is Rs 150 per person.
