RRR at Oscars: Director SS Rajamouli’s RRR (Rise Roar Revolt) is in news again. The makers of the epic drama have applied to the Academy of Oscars in general category. India's official entry to the 95th Oscars is the Gujarati film Chhello Show.
As soon as the makers of the magnum opus announced the news on microblogging site, Twitter, the fans erupted in joy and the social media post spread like wildfire. A heartfelt note was shared by the makers of the period action film which also featured a picture of director Rajamouli with lead actors - Jr NTR and Ram Charan.
The post read, “We are honoured that RRR's overwhelming success represented Indian Cinema on the global stage by creating milestones at the worldwide box-office and uniting film buffs across the world by transcending linguistic and cultural barriers."
"We're grateful to each and every one who loved our film and cheered us over the past few months. You made this journey possible," it added.
The post futher noted, "We applied to The Academy for Oscars consideration in the general category. We wish our RRR family the best and thank them from the bottom of our hearts for making this possible. Here's to continuing to win hearts and entertain audiences worldwide.”

There's more for the fans of RRR, as the makers are pushing the mega blockbuster in a total of 14 categories under ‘For Your Consideration’ (FYC) campaign. These include Best Motion Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Visual Effects, Best Original Song, Best Original Score, Best Costume Design, Best Production Design, Best Editing, Best Makeup and Hairstyling.
Directed by SS Rajamouli, RRR, the film collected over Rs 1200 crore worldwide. It was a fictional story based on the lives of two Telugu freedom fighters, Alluri Seetharama Raju and Komaram Bheem.
