Ahead of its release, the film saw a massive advance booking of tickets and reportedly garnered Rs 100 crore.  With such hype around the movie, a big budget and a strong story, there were a lot of expectations by the audiences. However, the expectations went more to the negative side as the VFX work, direction and dialogues could not impress many.

Famous film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh called the movie an ‘epic disappointment’. He said that despite a huge budget and a dream star cast, director Om Raut failed to deliver a good movie.

Adipurus inspires meme fest

Many viewers also flooded Twitter with memes calling out the poor VFX work. Many even trolled the film, comparing it with Games of Thrones, Brahmastra and Ramanand Sagar’s popular television series Ramayan.

The reactions of movie goers were hilarious and even many users trolled the makers of the movie.

A Twitter user called Adipurush ‘pathetic’ compared to Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan.

"After watching the visuals coming out of #Adipurush, my respect for Ramanand Sagar has gone up 100x. 26 years ago, without any technology and limited resources, he created magic, absolute magic, which even after so many years remains unmatched. This is pathetic," read the tweet.

Another user commented, "It will run hardly 3 days... and then it’ll get out of the theatre, it’s that bad. Shaktiman VFX is better than this."

To which a lot of users continued to slam and support the Vfx factor of the film on Twitter.

Another hilarious meme that has been shared by a user took a dig at Saif Ali Khan’s portrayal of ‘Lankesh’ in comparison to that of Ramanand Sagar’s ‘Ravan’ played by Arvind Trivedi.

A meme also showed the picture of Saif Ali Khan playing ‘Lankesh’ and Arvind playing ‘Ravan’ saying, "Lakh buraiyan thi mujhme par main chapri nhi tha."

The internet is going crazy over the dialogue written and delivered in the film.

A user shared a clip from the movie and wrote, "The Adipurush makers have messed this beyond redemption. After putting such dialogues on our gods, they have put a disclaimer in the film that it isn’t based on Valmiki’s Ramayan. Mocking the Ramayana but also playing legally safe. Ridiculous...Hurful."

Adipurush, directed by Om Raut, is an adaptation of the Hindu epic Ramayana. The film has been reportedly made on a budget of Rs 500 crore. The mythological drama was released in five languages— Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
