The Multiplex Association of India (MAI) and many cinemas across India have priced movie tickets at just Rs 75 at all 4000+ screens of participating cinemas to celebrate National Cinema Day on September 23.

This will include cinema screens of PVR, Inox, Cinepolis, Carnival, Miraj, City Pride, Asian, Mukta A2, Movie Time, Wave, M2K, Delite and many others, the official release read.

National Cinema Day is scheduled to be celebrated as a 'thank you' to the moviegoers and an invitation to those who haven't made it back to the cinema after the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Quarter 1, FY' 23 recorded impressive numbers among cinema operators on the back of global and local tent poles that resonated with the Indian audience. The quarter was marked by the release of some of the biggest domestic hits like KGF: Chapter 2, RRR, Vikram, Bhool Bhulaiya 2 and Hollywood hits such as Doctor Strange and Top Gun: Maverick," the official release said.

Multiplex Association of India (MAI) is a nationwide group of cinema operators that informs, educates and advocates on behalf of the cinema exhibition sector. Established in 2022 under the aegis of the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) by leading cinema operators, it partners with regulatory bodies and industry partners nationwide to raise the profile of cinema, highlighting opportunities, and addressing various challenges faced by the cinema exhibition sector.

Consisting of around 75% of the multiplex industry of India, the Multiplex Association of India (MAI) represents more than 11 cinema chains that operate more than 500 multiplexes across the country, with around 2500+ screens.

The National Cinema Day was previously announced to be held on September 16, however, on request from various stakeholders and in order to maximize participation, it was rescheduled to September 23.
