Kantara movie box office collection worldwide: The Hindi version of the Kannada period action thriller “Kantara” continues its magic run at the Hindi box office. The film earned Rs 2.60 crore nett on Wednesday (October 26), reported movie critic and business analyst Taran Adarsh. 

The extended weekend due to Diwali celebrations gave a boost to the business of the Kannada blockbuster. Kannada period action thriller Kantara crosses PS1 Hindi Lifetime Nett 

Written, directed and fronted by Rishab Shetty, the action thriller was released on September 30, 2022 and has crossed Ponniyin Selvan: I Hindi Lifetime Nett in India. The movie has been a huge hit not just in South but also in the Hindi belt. Entertainment Industry Tracker Ramesh Bala tweeted, "#Kantara Hindi has crossed #PS1 Hindi Lifetime Nett in India."

Kantara movie box office collection

Due to the Diwali weekend, the film got a boost at the collections. The total box office collections of the film have crossed Rs 170 crore. It will be crossing the Rs 200 crore mark before the end of the fourth week, according to pinkvilla.com. 'Kantara' has raked in Rs 111 crore approximately so far in Karnataka, with Rs 14 crore fourth weekend, which is double of the full fourth week of 'KGF 2'.

Kantara movie story 

Set in the fictional village of Dakshina Kannada, Kantara follows a Kambala champion, played by Shetty, who comes to loggerheads with an upright Forest Range officer, Murali (Kishore). Kambala is an annual race, held from November to March in coastal Karnataka, in which a jockey drives a pair of buffaloes, tied to the plough, through parallel muddy tracks.

Kantara has garnered positive reviews from audiences and critics alike. The Kannada blockbuster got overwhelming IMDB rating of 9.3 out of 10. In fact, it has topped IMDb’s recent list of ‘India’s Current Top 250 Films.

Kantara movie controversy 

The Kerala-based musical group Thaikkudam Bridge has accused the producers of Kantara of violating their copyright. According to Thaikkudam Bridge, Kantara's song "Varaha Roopam" is a copy of its song "Navarasam," which was released roughly five years ago.
