“Gadar 2 creates Gadar at the BO. The GLORIOUS opening weekend proves, yet again, that well-made desi entertainers will never go out of fashion. All eyes on Independence Day: Picture abhi baaki hain,” he added.

Adarsh noted that if the movie had not been clashing with Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi starrer ‘OMG 2’, it could have added another Rs 30 crore or so in its opening weekend. With its massive tally, the movie is the biggest hit from Sunny Deol and has had one of the biggest Hindi openings of the year.

‘Gadar 2’ made its opening on the same weekend that Indian cinemagoers broke the record for the single biggest opening weekend since the pandemic re-opening. The Multiplex Association of India and Producers Guild of India announced that the weekend saw the highest combined admissions in the last decade. The weekend saw combined box office collections of Rs 390 crore and total footfalls of 2.10 crore.
