"DoBaaraa has a lacklustre opening weekend... Did witness an upward trend, but the jump - so essential after a low starting point - was missing... Fri 72 lacs [#Janmashtami], Sat 1.02 cr, Sun 1.24 cr. Total: ₹ 2.98 cr. #India biz," Taran Adarsh said.

The film is directed by Anurag Kashyap and produced by Shobha Kapoor and Ektaa R. Kapoor and Sunir Kheterpal and Gaurav Bose. The new-age thriller reunites Tapsee and Anurag for the third time. With 'Dobaaraa', the hit jodi of Taapsee and Pavail Gulati is back with the success of 'Thappad'.

Dobaaraa, released on August 19, Friday, is the first film under Balaji Motion Pictures' new wing Cult Movies.

The mystery drama revolves around how a woman named Antara (Pannu) gets an opportunity to save the life of a 12-year-old boy who witnessed a death during a thunderstorm which happened 25 years ago, by getting connected through the television set during a similar storm in the present.

Pannu said "Dobaaraa" is the "most gripping film" that Anurag Kashyap has made till date and nobody could dare to attempt such a subject in Hindi cinema as everyone wants to play safe, a PTI report said.

Dobaaraa, jointly produced by Ektaa Kapoor's Cult Movies is a new division under Balaji Telefilms, and Sunir Kheterpal and Gaurav Bose's banner Athena. The movie also stars Pavail Gulati and Rahul Bhat.
