Massive response for Adipurush despite meme fest, criticism
While some fans have praised Prabhas and Kriti Sanon’s performance, others have criticised Adipurush’s dialogues and poor screenplay. Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan, who plays the role of Lankesh in the movie, has also been trolled for poor VFX work. Many viewers also trashed the film, comparing it with Ramanand Sagar’s cult television series Ramayan.
One dialogue in particular is being mocked for its tone by Twitter users. The dialogue comes up when Devdatta Nage’s Lord Hanuman and Vatsal Sheth’s Indrajeet are interacting right before the Lanka Dehan sequence.
Apart from the dialogues, the film’s VFX is also being trolled. One user wrote, “Adipurush’s VFX feels like the entire movie was edited at a cyber café.”
Another user tweeted, “Watched this Ramayana on YouTube for free rather than wasting Rs 250 on VFX blunder.”
“Thanking Ramanand Sagar ji 100 times for making Ramayan when there was no good VFX . These actors and the way they portrayed each character felt like home and still is unbeatable,” read one tweet.
It remains to be seen how the negative word-of-mouth will affect the film’s business.
Adipurush has been directed by Om Raut of Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior fame. The magnum opus stars Prabhas as Raghava, Kriti Sanon as Janaki, and Sunny Singh as Lakshman. Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan has essayed the role of Ravana in the film.
