India's annual wholesale price inflation rate fell to 10.70 percent in September 2022 from 12.41 percent in the prior month. In September, the food inflation rate has come down from 9.93% to 8.08% (MoM).

The wholesale price-based inflation eased for the third consecutive month in August to 12.41 per cent, on softening in prices of manufactured items, even as food items saw an uptick. The Wholesale Price Index-based inflation was 13.93 per cent in July and 11.64 per cent in August last year.

The index for ‘Non-Food Articles’ group rose by 0.8 percent to 123.5 (provisional) from 122.5 (provisional) for the previous month due to higher price of floriculture (11%), guar seed (9%), castor seed (7%), raw cotton (5%), sunflower (4%), rape & mustard seed, raw jute, groundnut seed and raw rubber (3% each), coir fibre, mesta, linseed and gingelly seed (2% each) and cotton seed (1%).
