In its decision to ban the export of wheat, the government has given some relief. Wherever the consignment of wheat has been handed over to the Custom Department for examination and has been registered in their system on or before May 13, those wheat consignments will be allowed to be exported. The central government has also allowed export of wheat consignment going to Egypt which was already being loaded at Kandla port. In fact, the government of Egypt had requested the Indian government to allow the export of wheat being loaded at Kandla port. The company engaged in the export of wheat to Egypt had got a permit to load 61,500 metric tonnes of wheat. The government has given permission to send the entire consignment of 61,500 metric tonnes from Kandla to Egypt.
The government has announced some relaxation to its order dated 13th May issued by Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Department of Commerce on restricting wheat exports.
