In a press briefing, US State Department Principal Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel acknowledged the need for UN institution reforms to reflect the modern world. Musk had criticized the absence of India's permanent UNSC seat, calling it "absurd" and advocating for revisions to the UN bodies. India has long sought a permanent UNSC seat to represent the interests of the developing world, gaining momentum with international support.

External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar has said that India will make it to the United Nations Security Council permanent membership. He said that keeping India out of the UNSC will only call the credibility of the international organisation into question. Jaishankar said that the world's largest country in terms of population and the fifth-largest economy cannot be kept out of the UNSC. He said that history is on India's side and that the UN will change.
