Stocks of sugar companies fell over 3% in the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) in the morning trade on Friday. The government imposed 20% customs duty on sugar exports to boost domestic supply and check prices which are ruling high at Rs 40/kg.

Indian equities opened lower on Friday and Nifty opening below 8200 and Sensex losing over 30 points. However, the sentiment changed in a couple of hours. At 10:54 am, BSE Sensex was trading up 165 points and Nifty jumped 52 points.
