In its circular, the regulator said that units of growth plan of overnight mutual fund schemes would be accepted as cash equivalent by CCs with a haircut of 5 percent and for other plans of overnight mutual fund schemes, the hair cut of 10 percent would continue to be applicable.

The world's second-largest economy offloaded USD 22.7 billion of the bills in February, with its total holdings adding up to USD 775 billion as of the end of that month, the Hong Kong-based South China Morning Post quoted figures released by the US Treasury Department on Wednesday. China's forex reserves, the world's highest, totalled USD 3.2457 trillion last month, according to the state-run Xinhua news agency.

In a move to facilitate liquidity management operations, the RBI revised the ceiling for the issue of securities under the MSS to Rs 6 lakh crore from the earlier Rs 30,000 crore. The move would help it rein in excess liquidity from the system after demonetisation which had seen banks getting high cash deposits.
