Regular commercial flights are expected to become operational soon from Sindhudurg Airport, making it the first in the coastal Konkan region to be on the country`s air map, while a memorandum of understanding would be signed for the Ratnagiri Airport, officials said here on Monday.

Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu today expressed his displeasure over the non-compliance of some of the requirements during the construction of the upcoming Sindhudurg airport in Maharashtra and asked officials for early compliance, according to a government statement.

As much as 80 per cent of the construction work on the Rs 520-crore Sindhudurg airport in the state is over, while the remaining work is expected to be completed by the next month, an official release said today.
