Amid relentless Israeli shelling in Gaza, Palestinians and foreign nationals swarmed the Rafah Crossing on Oct 16, seeking refuge across the Egyptian border. International efforts have called for a humanitarian ceasefire to ensure safe passage for both aid and those wanting to escape Gaza. On Oct 16, Egypt, Israel, and the U.S. agreed to a ceasefire in southern Gaza, coinciding with the reopening of the Rafah border crossing, allowing aid and foreign evacuations. However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office disputed the existence of such an agreement.
