FINAL TRADE: There was a stormy boom in the stock market on Friday, 1 September. There was a sharp jump in the major indices due to all-round buying. BSE Sensex closed up 555 points at 65,387. Similarly, the Nifty has also closed up 181 points at 19,435. Metal stocks rose the most in the market rally. Apart from this, auto stocks also gained momentum on the basis of August sales figures. Also, enthusiasm was seen in government sector shares. Yesterday BSE Sensex closed 255 points higher at 64,831.

The weakness in the global market caught up with the Indian market as benchmarks declined more than 1.5% on Sep 23. Extending the losing streak to the third day, the broader Nifty50 ended above 17,300, while the Sensex dropped over 900 points to settle around 58,100
