Maharashtra budget: The Maharashtra government slashed the value-added tax (VAT) on fuel in the Mumbai metropolitan region, which will make petrol cheaper by 65 paise per litre and diesel by Rs 2.60 per litre.

On October 10, the Maharashtra government trim down Value Added Tax (VAT) on petrol and diesel prices by Rs 2 per litre and Rs 1 per litre to support government's plan in boosting demand for fuel and cushion the negative imapct of International crude price rises.
