Kolkata Metro on Tuesday said it will operate night-long services on Saptami (October 10) and Ashtami-Nabami (October 11) on the Blue Line (Dakshineswar-New Garia corridor) to accommodate festive crowds.

On Independence Day, August 15, Kolkata Metro will operate fewer services. The Dakhineswar-New Garia line will run 188 services, reduced from the usual 288, with regular timings from 6:50 am to 9:40 pm and a special night service at 10:40 pm. The East-West corridor's Sector 5-Sealdah section will have 90 services instead of 106, and the Howrah Maidan-Esplanade section will run 90 services compared to the usual 130.

The Metro Railway hopes that the number of commuters availing the service will rise if the timing is advanced. Instead of 11 pm, the trains will now run from 10.40 pm from both Kavi Subhas and Dum Dum metro stations on an experimental basis from Monday to Friday, a statement said.
