Indian Railways is accelerating the deployment of the advanced Kavach 4.0 automatic train protection system across 10,000 locomotives and over 14,375 route kilometres (RKM) of tracks nationwide, the Railways stated on Friday.

Kavach 3.2 version is being installed on approved high-density routes, the railway officials said, adding that upgrading and installation of the latest version on new routes will go on simultaneously to cover a wider railway network in a shorter period.

In the statement, RailTel said the agreement with the tech firm is for "exploring and delivering KAVACH (train collision avoidance system) implementation projects in India as well as other countries".
