Former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar was elected as the Member of Legislative Council (MLC) unanimously on Friday. Along with Shettar, state minister N.S. Boseraju and senior Congress leader Tippannappa Kamakanur were also elected to the council.

In the last elections, Shettar won from Hubli Dharwad Central constituency after defeating Congress’ Mahesh Nalwad by a margin of 21,306 votes. He defeated Nalwad in the 2013 elections by a margin of 17,754 votes.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday released their third list of candidates for the upcoming Karnataka Assembly Elections. The third list saw them fielding Mahesh Tenjinakai against turncoat Jagdish Shettar for the Hubli-Dharwad Central Assembly constituency.
