Releasing the fourth advance estimate for the crop year 2021-22, the Union Agriculture Ministry today said that record production of rice, maize, gram, pulses, mustard, oilseeds and sugarcane is expected during this crop year. A record 130.29 million tonnes of rice production is possible. Wheat production is likely to come down to 10.68 million tonnes. The record production of pulses is expected to be 27.69 million tonnes. The record production of oilseeds is estimated at 37.70 million tonnes.

Asked about the situation in Maharashtra which has witnessed major farmers' agitations recently, he said, "Farmers are facing some difficulties, not getting proper minimum support price, and milk prices have come down. "But Maharashtra is a progressive state. Around Rs 2,000 crore worth of grapes and Rs 1,600 crore worth of onions have been exported from here. Dry ports are coming up in Nashik, Jalna, Wardha, Pune and Sangli. Irrigation potential is increasing in Maharashtra," Gadkari said.
