The central government is gearing up to take a decision to further simplify the Income Tax return form to facilitate tax payers more. Under this change, a new simplified GST return forms will also be rolled out to help traders.

GST, which came into play on July 1, 2017, has four tax slabs - 5%, 12%, 18% and 28%. Almost 227 items were there in 28% GST slab, now only 50 remain, which are mostly luxury items, rest have been put in 18%.

As taxpayers are taking time to get used to new tax regime Goods and Service Tax (GST), the government is taking all steps to make filing return easy. Every year, the taxpayers are required to file 37 returns under the new tax system.

Ministry of Finance, on Saturday tweeted saying, "GSTR 1 is to be filed by all taxpayers by 5th of September 2017. GSTR 2&3 to be filed by all taxpayers by 10th and 15th of Sept 2017 respectively.

The taxpayers had to file the GST returns for July by August 25 and those claiming transitional input tax credit by August 28.

The government has collected Rs 92,000 crore from the new tax regime Goods and Service Tax (GST) in just 60 days of its roll out. GST which was rolled out on July 1 has garnered just 38.38 lakh returns, which the government said was hardly 64% of the total expected filings.
